Shamrock Shake!

Hey everyone, so today I FINALLY got my first Shamrock shake from McDonalds of the year. Not everyone seems to like these, but I have loved them since I was about 10. I still remember very vividly the first time I ever had one. I had gone to a soccer game of my cousin's and then afterwards, we had gone to McDonalds to eat, and they talked about this thing called the shamrock shake, so I tried it. I fell in love, and was very displeased to know it was only available during St. Patrick's Day. So typically as soon as I find out they are available I rush out and get one. They are so yummy!

So I found two recipes online, both very similar, that are copy-cats of the Shamrock Shake. I have yet to try them, but I plan to ASAP now that I have discovered them. You can try this one or this one. I think the second one looks super cute the way its presented (and is also where the picture came from).

One more thing for today. So Lent starts today, meaning I had to come up with something to give up for 40 days. I usually have a hard time with this, and it never lasts, but we will see how this year goes. This year I chose to give up all things chocolate. I came up with this as a result of my recent chocolate milk addiction. It got really bad to the point that I was drinking 3-4 glasses of it a day. Not that there's anything wrong with chocolate milk, but who really needs that much of it in a day? Probably nobody. And we all know what they say about drinking your calories anyways. So thats my sacrifice, chocolate. We will see how I do!

Have a great day!

Happy Pączki Day & an OOTD

Hey everyone, happy Pączki day! Incase you don't know what a Pączek is, it is basically like a jelly-filled (black raspberry is my favorite) glazed doughnut with about a million calories in it! They are amazing, but you only eat them once a year, on fat tuesday. The purpose being that tomorrow is Ash wednesday, and you are supposed to fast all day, according to the traditional method anyways. This is all a Polish Catholic thing that I have been doing for years. Oh, and I discovered a few years ago that Pączek is the singular form for one of these things, and Pączki is the plural form, which has become a new pet peeve of mine when people call them Pączkis. :-)

My OOTD is quite plain today. Its a typical outfit that I wear to class, comfy. This is definitely one of my go-to outfits in my closet when I'm rushing to get ready for class in the morning. All of these items are from J.Crew a few years back.

Have a great day!

OOTD and some J.Crew Reviews

So First off, here is a polyvore and real life picture of what I wore today. This look is basically right from the look that was styled by FFM here. I saw this polyvore and LOVED it! So I figured I had to try it out for myself. I don't have all of the accessories, but I liked the way it looked with them so I put them in my polyvore too. So Thank you FFM for the awesome inspiration!!

Now onto my trip to the J.Crew Store today. So I tried out using the store's personal shopper, and I must say, I was pretty disappointed. I just felt like she didn't actually take the time to help me out. I don't know if it was because I was working from a list that I was trying stuff on for (birthday) or because I wasn't planning on buying anything today, but that should matter, and I was kind of annoyed that I didn't get the attention I thought I should have. I figured I would give it one more shot, and if its like this again, I probably won't use her again.

Anyways, on to the good stuff. So I pretty much loved everything I tried on. I thought it all worked out great so that was super exciting :-) All of these things are from my previous post here, so see there for links.

Stripe Mandarin Tee (s) - This was a size small, and I must say, I was quite happy with this piece. It was potentially my favorite thing I tried on today, which was a surprise.

Boathouse Shirtdress (4) - LOVED this one as well. As others have mentioned, it was ridiculously comfy. I can see this becoming one of my go-to pieces this summer. This dress runs a bit big, so I sized down from my usual J.Crew dress size.

Vivette Dress (6)- So this dress I have on my list in the warm buttercup color but they only had in the provence pink, which I actually thought looked very nice, but felt like it potentially washed me out a tad. I loved the ruching on the bodice. It was very flatting in my opinion.

Delaney Eyelet dress (6) - This was a nice simple summer dress. Simple as that. Really liked the pattern on the bottom of the dress.

Lace-over tank (XS) - I tried this on in ivory. I thought it ran big, I had to size down to an XS, although the small would have worked, it was a little baggier than I liked. This is the small followed by the XS for comparison.

Dorrie skirt (6)- I loved this one too :-) Adorable bright vibrant color. Very comfy. I do wish there was an easier way to put in on than unbuttoning the buttons in the front. That to me was a tad annoying.

So what do you think? Overall, I was VERY happy with my selections, and can't wait for my birthday to get some of this great stuff!

Have a great day!

Birthday List

So my birthday is coming up at the end of the month, so I put my birthday list together of some of the new things that J.Crew has right now. As usually there's lots that I want, go figure :-) A lot of these things are items I am planning on bringing with me on my trip in May (depending on what I get or course).

Islet paisley ruched bandeau top - This one I actually already know I'm going to get. They didn't have my size in the top online, so I used by VIP number to call and have them search for it and I was SO pleased to see that they found it for me! :-) This is the first time I've used this number, and I must say it worked out great and I definitely won't hesitate to use it in the future!

Delaney eyelet dress - I ordered another white dress in a previous order, but it just did nothing for me. I like the shape of this one better, and I want a nice white summery dress. See it here on shoppingwithm and on ema here.

Dorrie Skirt - So I fell in love with this one after seeing it here on shoppingwithm. Its a color that I don't have, and I'm looking forward to this bright color and being able to pair it with some navys, which I also don't have much of currently.

Stripe Mandarin tee - this is another one I saw here on shoppingwithm (what can I say, her style fits mine almost to a T at times)

Vivette Dress - I thought this dress looked cute, and I like this color.

Boathouse shirtdress - nice casual cozy looking summer dress, seen here on shoppingwithm and here on ema in sailor blue.

Katie eyelet cami - I like this one in both mauve morning and curry. Let this one up for mom to decide :-)

Clip elastic belt - After seeing this one, I figured it would go good with the black dress I got from madewell here.

Floral croquet dress - I really loved this after seeing it on summerilla here.

Yea I know... It's quite a long list. But it usually is, and I never expect all of the things I ask for. I usually just put together a wishlist, and let my mom pick from that. The things I'm really hoping for are the Dorrie skirt, boathouse dress, Delaney dress, and the floral croquet dress. I would say those are at the top of my wish list.

The more time goes by, the more excited I get to go on vacation. I keep reading reviews on things trying to figure out where to eat and what to do while we are there. There's so many decisions to be made and I am such a planner. I like planning everything down to the very last detail. When we went to disney two years ago, I had a daily list of the rides I wanted to go on/shows I wanted to see, in the order I wanted to do them. Its horrible, I know, but Its apparently something I'm not going to grow out of anytime soon. I don't plan to be quite THAT anal with this vacation. I do however need to at least figure out where we want to go to dinner each night as most of the reviews I have read said that you should make reservations in advance. The nice thing, is that it can all be done online through the website, so that make life easier.

Thats all for now...

Have a great day!

Spring/Summer get-away!

So I officially just booked my vacation to Atlantis last Wednesday and I am SOOO excited about it!! Boyfriend and I are going May 8-14. I will be taking my boards this summer on June 18th. I decided I needed a break from studying after school gets out, so we decided to plan this trip. I plan to get most of the annoying studying, annotating notes into my main study book, First Aid, before the trip, and then after just spend all my time memorizing it all.

I went there for a day on a cruise with my parents back when I was in hs and it was absolutely gorgeous, so I cannot wait to return. We also plan to go scuba diving while we are there in addition to maybe swimming with the dolphins or something. Thats all still in the works! We are staying at The Reef, which is a little further from the main hotel, and I had read that it is a little quieter over there. Also, the rooms there have a kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave, and even a stove, so we are planning on stopping at the grocery store to get stuff for breakfasts on the way from the airport.

The only thing more fun than planning a vacation is planning the stuff to bring to wear while there! I love resort clothes and have been adding to my closet a bit all winter, but I can't wait to hopefully get more stuff. I plan on using polyvore to put together my packing list for the trip so I will post some sets as time gets closer.

Alrighty, exam tomorrow so back to studying...

Have a great day!

Thursday, February 17, 2011

So today, I decided to stay home from class. There are some lecturers that I just cannot stand, and today was filled with 4 hours of my two least favorite lecturers. I knew I just would not be able to handle it. They are just so boring at times, and it feels like they just drone on forever. By the end of each lecture, I feel like I have completely zoned out and not gotten anything out of the lecture anyways. We have started our last module in med school, which is kind of scary and exciting at the same time. It's Endocrine and reproductive, which I'm hoping will be very interesting. I'm interested in OB/GYN so hopefully this stuff will be good. I am also very excited to be moving on to the clinical rotations that we will be starting this summer at the end of June. I think it will just be so much more interesting to be in the hospital all the time learning. I am not, however, excited about having to study and take the USMLE. It scares me. It's so important, and I just don't want to mess it up. Its one of those things that you just have to work really hard at for a period of time, and it will be over before I know it.

So tonight, the boyfriend is taking me to see the one-night only showing of the special RISE, which is about the 1961 US World Figure Skating Team that perished in a plane crash on their way to the World Championships. It was such a tragedy and such a great loss in the sport. Its such a horrible thing when something like this happens to such seemingly undeserving people. I'm not exactly sure what it will be. I think I heard that there would be performances by some of today's skaters.  The boyfriend will probably be bored out of his mind, but I will like it. My friend from school and her boyfriend are going as well, so hopefully at the least, the guys can keep eachother company. Here's the polyvore of what I plan on wearing:

Snow Day!! ... Kind of...

So we kept hearing word of this huge storm coming in, and after seeing what it was doing in Chicago, I was a bit worried that we might actually get the snow storm of the century. Last night I vigilantly checked my school's emergency web site for word that it was closed. After all, back in Michigan my undergrad was closed for only the third time in their history, and it hadn't even begun to snow yet. I was getting a kick out of the fact that everyone was referring to it as a Snowpocalypse. Anyways, the news finally came that my classes for today were cancelled, as well as a preceptor thing I was supposed to have with a psychiatrist. I was elated, not that I was planning on going to class even if we did have it since its recorded, but now I don't have to feel guilty about not going :-)

So today gave me some time to try on some of my latest purchases from J.Crew, and try out some pictures outside. We didn't end up getting all that much snow, maybe 3-4 inches, but its starting to come down again now so maybe we will get more, who knows.

Cotton Bell Skirt - 6 - Longer than many or their mini's they've had lately, love how comfortable it is. Also seems very well made, the material seems like it will hold up well.
Stripe button-back tee - S - love this shirt.
Irena Gladiator Wedges - 8 - true to my J.Crew shoe size, I LOVE these sandals

Cashmere femme cardigan - M - Very warm and cozy

Stripe button-back tee
Lighthouse cardigan - M - absolutely in LOVE with this sweater. It is very very cozy and made of a nice thick knit. This will definitely become one of my staples.

Stripe button-back tee - S - this color was much brighter than online, but I love it
Shirred Chambray skirt - 6 - I liked this one but am not in love with it. Either way, I think it will be a nice alternative to the jean skirt of my youth. What do you think?

Sailor Sweater - S - This was actually much thinner than I had expected. Also, the sleeves seemed to come up to a strange point, being right about at my elbow. It doesn't bother me that much though, I still think its really cute! Will make a nice light summery sweater.

OOTD, even though I stayed inside the whole day :-)

Have a great day, stay warm!
