Oh j.crew...

Of course, J.Crew came out with their second new rollout for this fall. Why do they do this to me?? I have been drinking some serious crewlade lately, and didn't need another rollout of fabulous things! So bad for my nonexistent budget. For now, I'm just doing some window-shopping and wishlisting. Trying to resist the urge to make anymore fabulous purchases, although as usually, it will be very tough...

So, after browsing the new fall lineup, here are some of my favorites!

Featherknit shirred henley tee - so I am always down for a casual looking tee. This one appears to fit the bill. I love the shirring at the shoulders. I also really like the bright dahlia color.

Jester Sweater - This has such a classic j.crew vibe, I just love it! I feel as though its been a little while since j.crew has had such a nice classic argyle sweater, I'm glad to see this one!

Cowlneck poncho - This just looks like such a great item for fall. I could easily see this as a great layering piece to get a little extra warmth. Definitely on my list!

Vintage Tweed jacket - LOVE. I love the cropped look of this jacket, and the mustard color. I could easily see myself reproducing the way its styled on the site. I also really like the way the back has the little detail. This is DEFINITELY on my list to try out at some point this fall.

Cafe trouser in wool - So I really love the cafe capris in wool, I can imagine that these are great as well. I do wish they offered them in more colors however. The color selections are somewhat blah, just your classic neutrals, not that theres anything wrong with that, but it would be nice to see some color.

Hutton trouser in Italian wool - I love the look of these pants! On my petite frame I'm not so sure they would work, but I think they are so cute!

Gallerista skirt - Love this print, love the length of this skirt. Also on my list.

Teddie Dress - much controversy about the exposed back zipper. I do not love this, but I still love the shape, and for me, It would usually be covered by a white coat so the back wouldnt been seen anyways so I might still have to give it a try! I LOVE the shape of this dress and the decadent red color!

Gallerist dress - I could see myself wearing this exactly as pictured. I think its such a cute put together look. I don't love the look of the dress alone however. I think its something that would look better layered with a button down underneath.

So what do you guys think? What are some of your favorites from this rollout? Also, I'm wondering what everyones thoughts are on the darby loafers? I think they look like something Princess Jasmine from Aladdin would wear, but thats just me.

Have a great day!

J.Crew Reviews

Hey everyone,

So I went to my local crew today with two very specific goals in mind: 1) to return most of the little silver j.crew jewelry boxes I had lying around in my closet (Thanks gigi! GREAT idea!) and 2) to see if my store had the new cafe capri in wool in the dahlia color. The first task was a success. The second not so much. I was very disappointed to find that there were no cafe capris in the dahlia color at all. My store only had them in camel and black. So I decided to try the camel on for size purposes. Unfortunately they don't have these pants in the petite sizes at the store, so I tried on a 6, and while it wasn't terrible, I think the 8P would be a better fit for me. So I ended up ordering them online. They are backordered until october unfortunately... and looking on the site now, they are no longer available in that size, so we will see what happens!

First I tried it with the Perfect shirt in leopard. I loved this shirt. Its definitely a little out of my comfort zone, but I am really loving all the animal prints for this fall, and this shirt is no exception. I tried a 6 and it fit TTS. I loved the fabric of this shirt, it felt very nice. The leopard pattern on this shirt is beautiful. If you're considering it a all, I would say go for it!

Elodie Sleeveless blouse - I thought this top was lovely, and it comes in that amazing dahlia color thats everywhere on j.crew this fall. I love this color. I thought it fit very nicely. Nice silky feeling fabric. This is a 6. I didn't try on the 4 for comparison, but I thought the 6 fit nicely. If you want a little more form fitting then I would recommend sizing down one.

Boy shirt in Quincy tartan - I am not generally a huge plaid person, but after getting the madras popover this spring I must say that I am now a fan. This shirt did not disappoint. I love the colors in this shirt. I think blue, green, and dahlia have become my new color palate for fall. This is a size 6, which is my usual size.

Silk Blythe Blouse in extravagant green - I had tried this shirt in the poppy color last weekend, and wasn't all that impressed with it. I liked this color much better. Another very silky shirt, fits TTS, this is my usual size 6.

Tippi sweater in bright dahlia - This is a great little sweater. It is fairly thin, but I think that is a plus sometimes because it makes it easier to layer with and not get really warm. Again, I love this color. I took a medium in this one, which is typical of the more fitted sweaters/shirts at j.crew.

Stripe-Breaker sweater - This sweater is pretty thick, but has a very nice feel to it. My stripe obsession continues into the fall :-) I thought this sweater ran maybe a tad large. I took a small in this, and in most sweaters I take a medium. Even in the small though, the sleeves seemed pretty long.

Jardin skirt - Oh this skirt... I felt as though this was a disaster on me. I really liked the color, but I didnt really love the length or the fullness on me. I think on my petite frame it just swallowed me up a little bit. I just don't think it was my style at all, and I wouldnt feel comfortable wearing something like this.

Perfect fit flower tank -  This was cute, although I thought it ran perhaps a little small. I tried a medium, and it felt a little snug to me. This shirt really seemed like nothing special to me, although it could be a good layering piece.

Waverly chino - I thought these were pretty cute. They are basically a straight leg fit. I don't think I would get them in this color, but it comes in many other neutral colors that I would consider. I would probably prefer them in just a classic khaki color, which j.crew is referring to as "dark oak" on the website. (sometimes I just don't get these names)

Marching mini - I just picked this skirt up for the fun of it, and I absolutely hated it. First off, it runs small. This is a 6, which is my usual j.crew size in skirts, and it was much too small. I didn't even bother trying the 8 because I didn't care for the shape, or really anything else about the skirt. Looking at how its styled on the website, it looks like its even pulling and too small on the model. Not a good look imo.

And heres my OOTD for shopping. My sequin stripe tee, and 5" chino shorts in ceylon tea with the two-tone flip flops in the grey color.

As I mentioned above, I am loving all things blue, viridian green, bright dahlia, and animal print for this fall. What are your favorites?

Also, I had every intention of going into Anthropologie today to try some stuff on as well. Our store just opened a few months ago, and I had been in once before but didn't try anything on. Well, I again tried nothing on. I honestly walked into the store, and felt a little overwhelmed. My first thought, no joke, was "I need my mommy" lol. She's always been my best shopping buddy, and I felt that venturing into this new store I needed some moral support. Its pretty lame I know. Maybe at some point I'll work up the courage to go in there and actually try stuff on by myself. I think it didn't help that I was feeling a little tired after trying everything on at j.crew and didn't really feel like trying much else on anyways.

Have a great day!

Happy Anniversary

Hey everyone,

Just another quick post today. Its my boyfriend and I's 6th year anniversary, so we will be going out to dinner and a movie tonight :-) I can't believe 6 years have already gone by. It does not seem that long at all. Here's the polyvore of what I plan to wear, and I'll update later with some IRL pics.

Happy Anniversary

Hopefully later this week I will have some reviews to report :-)

Have a great day!

New Fall Coat

So after seeing this polyvore set here by shoppingwithm, I decided I need a fun red/orange colored coat for the fall/winter. I absolutely love fall colors, and I'm surprised I don't already have something like this! Here are the two coats that I am considering, but I need some help deciding!

Colletta - russet - I already own this one in the dark plum, and I do like it. I like the orangy color of the russet, and I quite like the feminine details like the gathering at the waist and the cuffs on the sleeve.

Lady Day - dark poppy - I am really liking the bright red color of this coat and the shape seems very classic.

I actually found a review on reallypetite of both of these coats while I was searching on google. She too was trying to decide between the lady day and the colletta, but in the cobblestone color.

I think I am leaning toward the classic look of the Lady Day coat, especially since I do already have a version of the Colletta. With either one of these I cannot wait to start pairing animal prints and other fall colors :-) What do you guys think??

Little miss crazy

Alright, so I'm going to share my OOTD today before I explain my title. I got my silk Casbah blouse yesterday, so I couldn't resist but take it out for a spin already. As I mentioned yesterday, I seem to have a particular color theme going this week. Not quite sure how it happened, but I guess everything that I thought of to wear this week so far involved the teal color. Today's outfit continued along on that pattern. I love this blouse. The pattern is absolutely lovely, and I love the way it feels on. Its so soft and silky. I wish all my cloths were this soft. It also has a nice loose fit, which was perfect for the hot day today even though  I was inside all day again. I paired it with the pencil skirt in wool crepe and a pair of wedge heels from target. I switched to a pair of Tory Burch Revas for the afternoon, but for the morning I wore the wedge shoes from target that I love. Because of the wedge heel I think they are a little more comfortable for a long day than regular heels. Heres the IRL picture and the polyvore.

OOTD 8/4/11

So if you notice, my cat in the corner, she is the little miss crazy that I am referring to. She was acting quite rambunctious this morning, but it didn't seem particularly out of the ordinary. She really hates closed doors, and was begging to get into my closet. This is a door I typically leave open, but while I was taking my pictures I closed it. So after I was done before I left I opened it back up and went to work like any other day. I got home, and at some point looked into my closet, and this is what I found:

Now that basket is typically sitting up on a shelf above my clothes, and is filled with a bunch of little J.Crew jewelry boxes. Apparently she felt the need to jump into the basket or something and knocked it off the shelf, sending everything in it to the floor. The basket ended up on the complete opposite side of my closet. I was shocked that she did this. While she can be quite mischievous at times, shes usually not this destructive. I'm just glad that shes okay.

So on a positive note, this forced me to clean out the floor in my closet a little bit. Here's the end result. I love my closet btw :-)

This also brings me to another point. Does anyone else feel the need to keep all the little jewelry boxes that J.Crew's stuff usually comes in? I'm not sure why, but I do. I have every single one, which has built up to be quite a few. Why do I need these? I have no idea. I have a nice big jewelry cabinet (in the back of my closet), so everything is put away in there and all these little boxes are empty. Do I really need these or is this just the beginning stages of hoarding? I decided to at least take them out of the basket for now, but I am not quite sure I can get myself to throw them away yet. What do you think? What do you do with yours?

Alright, thats all for today. Have a great evening!

Crazy Morning...

Hey everyone,

So this morning started out horribly. I wanted to crawl into a hole. Heres the story. So I had lecture at 9 this morning. I woke up with more than enough time to spare, and I think that made my kind of go a little slow getting ready, so I ended up leaving later than I usually would have. Also, traffic this morning seemed to be particularly horrible. Theres usually a lot of cars, but not stop and go like it was this morning. So I finally get to the hospital, and I head over to where the room for lecture is, and theres a door I have to go through on the way, and its locked. So I ring the little doorbell 3-4 times and nobody ever comes to let me in. A few minutes later someone else from my class shows up, and she ends up texting someone from my class, and come to find out, they had changed the location of the lecture, and it was at a completely different hospital. So we had to jump back in the car and drive to the other hospital. I ended up being 30 minutes late, but fortunately, it wasn't that big of a deal, so that was good. It was just all very stressful! And not to mention the humidity was horrible today so after doing all this walking back and forth outside my hair became a big poofball. Luckily, the day got much better from that point on, and ended okay :-)

Also, today is my kitty's birthday, she is 4 years old. We rescued her when she was about 2, and she is the perfect cat. She loves attention, and is always around us. She loves curling up and taking naps with me after "work," and she greats me at the door when I come home. She is the perfect mix of playful and lazy. She cracks me up sometimes when she runs around like a crazy maniac, and when she jumps up in the air chasing her tail. I could easily watch her do it all day. I could not have asked for a better kitty, and I am so happy to have my little peanut. Happy Birthday to Jezzibelle!

Here's an OOTD from yesterday and today. I seem to be very in to the teal and greens right now, as is evident by the fact that I've worn it for the fast 3 days... Eh, can't help if its what I like right now :-)

Pottery Barn Swooning

So its quite obvious that one of my favorite stores to shop for clothes is J.Crew. I decided today to spend some time sharing my favorite home store, which is none other than Pottery Barn. I have been nearly obsessed with Pottery Barn since I was a teenager. To me, it was what I always envisioned my dream home looking like. I always loved the simplicity of the furniture, with all of the beautiful accessories in just the right places to make this gorgeous looking room. While I currently can't afford to furnish my entire home from Pottery Barn, I definitely pull a lot of my styling and decorating from Pottery Barn.

Today I thought I'd share some of the current things I'm swooning over at Pottery Barn.

So what do you think? What are some of your favorite items at Pottery Barn? Do you have another sore that is your go to store for your home?

And I leave you with an OOTD:
